Ambassadors Fund-A-Need: Teen Van
This year’s Fund-A-Need is raising money for the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Teen Van, a mobile clinic offering free health services to uninsured and underinsured youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. About 40% of the young people who receive care at the Teen Van have experienced homelessness and 70% of all young people seen by the Teen Van team return for continued care.
Fully staffed with a pediatrician, psychologist, social worker, and nutritionist, the Van meets the needs of families by delivering comprehensive and holistic support to local schools, shelters, and community sites. Every $1,000 invested in the Teen Van leads to a savings of $10,000 in community health care costs.
Your Support Will Help Young People Thrive
Every dollar raised supports the Teen Van's most urgent needs. The Teen Van's dedicated specialists meet young people where they are, relying entirely on gifts like yours to travel regularly to high schools, community colleges, youth centers, and food banks.
Your support has a lasting impact on young people, their families, and their communities. Together, we are enhancing our services so that all youth receive the exceptional care they deserve. Your commitment makes all the difference, and we are grateful for your generosity.
"Having an opportunity in a safe place to have a discussion about contraception, assertiveness, the impact of decisions, and how to make good ones isn’t something I can put a number to as far as impact. But these discussions can have ripple effects in communities and families—and the future experiences of their children."
- Arash Anoshiravani, MD, MPH, medical director of the Teen Van, who has led the program since 2019
