Finding Happiness During Treatment
Josh was looking forward to starting first grade when he was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone and soft tissue cancer. Instead, he spent much of the school year at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford undergoing treatment.
Despite the challenges he faced, Josh loved the art projects, music therapy, video games, and the relationships he built with staff and volunteers. His custom-painted radiation mask and supportive care team helped make the hospital feel less intimidating and more like a place where he could simply be a kid.
Thanks to generous supporters, kids like Josh receive more than world-class care at Packard Children’s. They also receive the encouragement, connection, and support that help them thrive along the way.
